The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) achieved two Guinness World Records in Andhra Pradesh while constructing the Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Expressway. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced this achievement, calling it a proud moment for both India and Andhra Pradesh. NHAI, with M/s Rajpath Infracon Pvt. Ltd., laid 28.95 lane-kilometres and 10,675 MT of Bituminous Concrete continuously within 24 hours on the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor (NH-544G).
“This remarkable feat showcases the Government of India’s vision for world-class highway infrastructure, the dedication of engineers, workers, and field teams, and the stringent adherence to NHAI quality standards,” stated Chief Minister Naidu. He also mentioned that two more Guinness World Records are being attempted by January 11, 2026, on Packages 2 & 3 of this corridor in Andhra Pradesh. The Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada greenfield national highway project has gained momentum and is set to significantly enhance Andhra Pradesh’s connectivity with Bengaluru.
The six-lane, access-controlled expressway aims to reduce travel time between Amaravati and Bengaluru from 11-12 hours to about six hours. Passing through Guntur, Prakasam, Kurnool, and Kadapa districts in Andhra Pradesh before reaching Karnataka, the expressway will facilitate faster and uninterrupted movement of passengers and freight by bypassing congested towns and existing highways. The project, part of Bharatmala phase-II, consists of greenfield and brownfield sections with an estimated length of 518-624 km, costing around Rs 19,200-Rs 19,320 crore.
