The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has submitted a chargesheet in a Special NIA Court in Patna against an arms and ammunition smuggler involved in illegal trafficking across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana. Parvez Alam, the ninth accused in the case RC-01/25/NIA/PAT, faces charges under the BNS and Arms Act. This case has seen a total of 11 arrests, with eight individuals charged earlier this year still in judicial custody awaiting trial.
Parvez Alam, who has a history of arms-related cases dating back to 2013, was brought in under a production warrant for his involvement in a significant syndicate engaged in smuggling prohibited bore ammunition. The case initially surfaced in Bihar last year, leading to the arrest of four individuals by local police following the seizure of large quantities of illicit ammunition. The NIA took over the investigation in August 2025 and uncovered a syndicate operating at multiple levels, including major suppliers, middlemen, and retailers.
In a separate incident, the NIA filed charges on May 5 in an Ahmedabad Special Court against three individuals associated with the banned ISIS terrorist group. The accused, including Hyderabad-based Syed Ahmed Mohiuddin and two others from Uttar Pradesh, were charged under various sections of the UA (P) Act, BNS, and Arms Act. These individuals, acting on instructions from foreign-based IS handlers, had planned a bioterrorism conspiracy involving mass poisoning using the biological toxin ‘ricin,’ listed in the Chemical Weapons Convention.
