NITI Aayog and the Atal Innovation Mission have introduced ATL Sarthi and Mentor India Academy in Telangana to provide mentorship and support to 379 Atal Tinkering Labs. This initiative aims to help young innovators turn their ideas into solutions, contributing to India’s development and positioning Telangana as a crucial hub in the country’s grassroots innovation ecosystem.
The ATL Sarthi and Mentor India program will group ATLs regionally and link them with prominent local institutions to ensure ongoing mentorship, teacher training, and avenues for incubation and startup assistance. It represents a concentrated effort to enhance the impact of ATLs by transitioning from mere access to sustained engagement.
Vardhaman College of Engineering has been designated as the key institution for Telangana, leveraging its expertise in technical education, innovation, and entrepreneurship to bolster ATL schools and enhance the local innovation landscape. Governor of Telangana, Shiv Pratap Shukla, emphasized that this initiative will foster innovation in schools by connecting students with top-tier institutions, encouraging creative thinking, problem-solving, and fostering a culture of nation-building.
The ATL Sarthi and Mentor India Academy initiative is tailored to provide students with practical exposure to emerging technologies, structured problem-solving techniques, and avenues to scale their innovations. Through enhancing teacher capabilities and offering institutional backing, the program ensures that innovation becomes an ongoing and progressive process within educational institutions.
This rollout aligns with AIM’s broader national objective of creating one of the world’s largest innovation ecosystems for students, with more than 10,000 operational ATLs nationwide.
