BJP National Working President Nitin Nabin is set to submit his nomination for the BJP’s National President position at the party headquarters in New Delhi on Monday. The nomination process is anticipated to be a significant political gathering, with the presence of senior leaders from various parts of the country. Party sources suggest that key figures like BJP Chief Ministers, state unit presidents, Members of Parliament, and other senior officials will attend, highlighting the event’s importance.
The event is viewed as a showcase of organizational unity and strength in preparation for the leadership transition. The election schedule, announced by BJP National Returning Officer and Rajya Sabha MP K. Laxman, specifies that nominations for the national president role can be filed between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on the same day. The entire election procedure will be held at the party headquarters in the national capital.
Following the nomination submission, the scrutiny of nomination papers will occur between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., with candidates allowed to withdraw nominations from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. If more than one valid nomination remains after withdrawals, polling is scheduled for January 20. The official announcement of the new BJP national president will also take place on the same day.
K. Laxman clarified that voting will only proceed if necessary, with polling, if required, set for January 20. The BJP national president is elected through an electoral college comprising representatives from the party’s national and state councils. The party’s constitution outlines specific eligibility criteria for candidates vying for the top organizational position.
