Amid growing political speculation in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reassured party members that his move to contest the Rajya Sabha elections would not disrupt party affairs or governance. Addressing a Janata Dal-United (JD-U) meeting in Patna, Kumar affirmed his commitment to remain actively engaged in both state and national politics. He assured party leaders that all activities would continue smoothly despite his transition to the Rajya Sabha.
Nitish Kumar’s decision to shift to the Rajya Sabha has sparked intense political discussions in Bihar, with some party workers expressing discontent and suspicion of ulterior motives. However, Kumar clarified that his choice was voluntary and not influenced by external pressures. The meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence, attended by JD-U MPs, MLAs, MLCs, and senior leaders, aimed to address concerns within the party and provide reassurance.
Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, supported Kumar’s decision during the meeting, emphasizing that those familiar with Kumar’s political approach would understand the move was not coerced. Singh also mentioned that Nitish Kumar would decide the next Chief Minister, further solidifying his authority within the party. Additionally, the meeting confirmed the political entry of Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, into the JD-U, with his formal induction expected soon.
Political observers anticipate Nishant Kumar’s foray into politics to influence the future leadership and organizational dynamics of the JD-U, particularly amidst significant political transformations in Bihar.
