There is no shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG in India, as confirmed by a senior official from the Petroleum Ministry. Despite disruptions in shipping due to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, the country’s oil refineries have ample crude stocks to ensure optimal production of these fuels. The official mentioned that over the past three days, more LPG cylinders have been delivered to households than the number of bookings made, and commercial LPG sales have also been robust.
The official highlighted that global energy supply disruptions due to the West Asia crisis have led to price volatility in the international market. However, the government has implemented effective measures to maintain normal fuel supply to consumers. This includes maintaining crude inventories, ensuring operational refineries at peak levels, and averting any dry-out situations at retail outlets or LPG distributorships.
Emphasizing the availability of adequate stocks of petrol, diesel, and LPG for domestic use, the official reassured consumers about the continuous supply of these essential fuels. Additionally, efforts have been made to encourage the conservation of fuels, in line with the Prime Minister’s call to reduce reliance on conventional fuels. Suggestions include using public transport, carpooling, railways for goods transportation, and adopting electric vehicles to save energy and lessen the economic burden on the country.
