The Noida Police recently apprehended a gang responsible for two-wheeler thefts and mobile snatching incidents. Six offenders, along with two juveniles, were arrested by the Noida Sector-20 police. Valuable items recovered from the gang included three motorbikes, three mobile phones, three knives, and an illegal country-made pistol.
The arrests followed a crackdown by the Noida Sector 20 police on the theft gang. Acting on local intelligence and electronic surveillance, the police conducted raids near Kailash Cut in Sector-27. Among the arrested individuals were Danish, Appu alias Sandeep, Vikas, Sahil alias Shubham, Sharad Singh Dev, and Suraj Kumar Gupta, with two minors linked to the gang also taken into custody.
An official reported that Vikas was found in possession of an illegally procured .315 bore country-made pistol, while illegal knives were recovered from Danish, Sahil, and Sharad. Notably, three of the accused, namely Appu (alias Sandeep), Vikas, and Sahil (alias Shubham), had prior records with cases against them for theft, mobile snatching, and Arms Act violations.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the accused operated in a coordinated manner, scouting locations for potential targets before using stolen bikes to carry out thefts to evade detection. The stolen motorcycles were utilized in mobile snatching and other thefts across Noida and the NCR region. The Noida Sector-20 police have filed a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act.
The police highlighted that the gang’s modus operandi also sheds light on numerous incidents of mobile theft and snatching in neighboring areas. Investigations are ongoing to determine if the gang had connections with other syndicates engaged in the trafficking of stolen goods.
