The Noida police conducted a significant operation against mobile-snatching gangs, resulting in the apprehension of two suspects on Wednesday. The arrested individuals, identified as Lokesh and Pradeep, were caught in Noida Sector-55 with around two dozen stolen mobile phones recovered from them. This crackdown followed numerous complaints of robberies in both secluded spots and busy market areas.
The arrested suspects, residents of Gautam Buddha Nagar, were driven by drug addiction to engage in criminal activities. They were found in possession of a stolen motorcycle and illegal knives. During interrogation, they confessed to snatching mobile phones to support their drug habits and later selling the stolen devices in Delhi markets for profit.
Lokesh and Pradeep admitted to specific incidents, including a mobile phone theft near Sector-59 Metro station and the snatching of an iPhone-16 in the Sector-12/22 Chauda Mod area. These stolen phones were reportedly sold in Delhi for monetary gain. Both suspects have a history of criminal activities, facing multiple charges related to theft, robbery, weapon possession, and trafficking of stolen goods.
