North Korea has criticized the military collaboration between the United States, Japan, and South Korea, stating that it disrupts peace and stability in the region. The Trilateral Chiefs of Defence meeting held in Washington aimed at achieving military superiority and advancing geopolitical interests through enhanced trilateral military cooperation, as per the country’s Ministry of National Defence. This military collusion is identified as the primary factor undermining peace in the Korean Peninsula and the Asia-Pacific region.
The North Korean armed forces have vowed to prevent any imbalance of power in the region resulting from the military alliance between the US, Japan, and South Korea. Emphasizing their commitment to neutralize security challenges and defend regional peace, the country’s military asserts its dedication to upholding the constitutional mission. North Korea strongly criticized the ongoing US-led multinational military exercise in Hawaii, labeling it as a “war rehearsal” that could provoke countermeasures from regional nations.
The Rim of the Pacific Exercise (RIMPAC), which involves South Korea leading the combined maritime component command for the first time, has drawn sharp criticism from North Korea. Describing RIMPAC as more than a routine exercise but a deliberate war rehearsal orchestrated by the US and its allies to target specific regional states, North Korea expressed concerns over the provocative nature of such actions. The multinational exercise, running from June 24 to July 31 with participation from 31 countries, including South Korea, has raised tensions in the region.
