A North Korean indoctrination facility showcased banners labeling South Korea as the “No. 1 hostile country,” stirring up public hostility towards Seoul. The Korean Central News Agency released photos of the Central Class Education House in Pyongyang, where North Koreans were touring as part of celebrations for the Socialist Patriotic Youth League’s 80th founding anniversary. This propaganda center aims to instill animosity towards Seoul and Washington among the populace, as reported by Yonhap News Agency citing KCNA.
The banners at the facility accused South Korea of being the primary enemy and perpetuating a confrontational atmosphere to destabilize North Korea and overthrow its regime. They also highlighted a section of South Korea’s Constitution asserting the entire Korean Peninsula as its territory, suggesting Seoul’s alleged intentions to unify the Korean Peninsula under its rule. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un had criticized this constitutional article as embodying extreme hostility in a parliamentary address last year.
Kim Jong-un, in a meeting in December 2023, characterized inter-Korean relations as those between two mutually hostile states and has since pursued aggressive policies towards Seoul. During a parliamentary speech in 2024, he vowed to enhance educational efforts to portray South Korea as the foremost adversary and archenemy of North Korea.
