NFR’s Chief Public Relations Officer, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, reported a 7.8% growth in inward movement of cement traffic, reaching 9.76 million tonnes from 9.05 million tonnes in the previous year.
A remarkable 152.7% increase in loading of cement was also noted, showcasing NFR’s efforts to boost freight efficiency and support infrastructure development in the Northeast region. Notably, the first-ever cement rake was successfully unloaded at Sairang Railway Station in Mizoram on September 14, 2025, marking a significant milestone in regional connectivity.
Further enhancing cement cargo operations, NFR achieved another milestone by unloading the first-ever cement rake at Molvom Railway Station in Nagaland on September 24, 2025. In a significant development, NFR deployed its first goods train with an electric locomotive at the Tetelia cement production area under the Lumding Division on March 11, 2025. This initiative, handling 50 rakes in February 2025, aimed to streamline transportation operations in the region. Additionally, a historic moment was marked with the successful placement of the first-ever goods train containing cement at Nischintapur terminal near Agartala on March 24, 2025, under the Agartala-Akhaura New Rail Link Project, strengthening freight connectivity in Tripura and the Northeast.
