The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has been focusing on enhancing railway infrastructure and safety measures during the current fiscal year, aiming to provide secure and reliable rail services in the region. Notable achievements include the commissioning of nine Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and completion of eight Road Under Bridges (RUBs, surpassing the previous year’s accomplishments. The zone also eliminated 21 manned level crossings to bolster train operational safety.
The NFR has made significant strides in strengthening bridge infrastructure, with 12 bridges rehabilitated through regirdering and 77 bridges equipped with inspection pathways for improved maintenance safety. Track renewal efforts have seen substantial progress, with rail and sleeper renewals exceeding previous year’s performance. Ballast renewal works have also been carried out to enhance track stability and comfort for passengers.
Passenger amenities and station infrastructure have been enhanced through the opening of Foot Over Bridges, high-level platforms, and platform raising works at various stations. The completion of works at Haibargaon station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme signifies a move towards modern and passenger-centric facilities. The Railway has also focused on turnout renewals, track safety improvements, and mechanized track maintenance to ensure reliability and performance.
Efforts towards efficient asset utilization have led to improved financial performance, with increased revenue earnings through land utilization and shop/siding licensing. Speed enhancement works at loop lines in 29 stations have contributed to smoother train operations. These achievements highlight NFR’s commitment to infrastructure development, safety enhancement, and passenger convenience, emphasizing modernization and capacity building for a dependable railway network in the region.
