The Northern Railway has announced the temporary suspension of Passenger Reservation System (PRS) services in Delhi for scheduled maintenance on Thursday night and early Friday. This suspension will impact various passenger-related facilities, with online and counter-based services being unavailable for several hours. Passengers are advised to complete all essential travel-related activities beforehand to avoid last-minute disruptions.
Railway authorities have stated that PRS services in the Delhi region will be halted temporarily for maintenance purposes. This suspension will affect key services like ticket booking, cancellations, and inquiries, starting at 11:45 p.m. on Thursday and lasting until 4:45 a.m. on Friday. During this five-hour window, passengers will not have access to several core railway services.
Facilities connected to the Delhi reservation system, including booking services through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation website and ticket counters at railway stations, will be unavailable during this period. Passengers will not be able to check the PNR status of their tickets or cancel confirmed and waitlisted bookings during the maintenance window.
Moreover, train charting services will be suspended, impacting functionalities such as chart preparation and Electronic Deposit Receipt (EDR) services. Tatkal bookings and other last-minute reservation options will also be unavailable during this time. The Railways have clarified that this temporary suspension is part of their efforts to enhance system capacity, improve speed, and efficiency. These maintenance activities aim to provide faster and more reliable services for passengers in the future.
To avoid inconvenience during the suspension period, the Railways have advised commuters to complete all necessary travel-related tasks, especially ticket booking and cancellations, before 11:45 p.m. on Thursday.
