Election authorities have issued a notice to LDF convener and candidate T.P. Ramakrishnan in Perambra, Kerala, regarding a controversial campaign announcement. The announcement, allegedly suggesting religious-based canvassing by Muslim League workers, has sparked a political uproar in the constituency. The Deputy Collector is investigating alleged violations linked to the divisive audio message following a complaint by the United Democratic Front (UDF).

Senior CPI(M) leader Ramakrishnan, who is seeking his fourth win from the constituency, faces scrutiny over the campaign material that has been criticized for attempting to polarize voters. The UDF has accused the CPI(M) of engaging in communal engineering through the message, which purportedly urged support for a candidate based on religious lines. The controversy has escalated, with the Election Commission intervening and seeking clarification on the matter.

The UDF candidate, Fathima Thahliya, has reinforced the allegations, pointing out that the recorded message indicates pre-planning. She highlighted the shift in the CPI(M)’s stance, alleging that the campaign vehicle used for the announcement belongs to the Left’s registered fleet. With the controversy intensifying, Perambra has become a key battleground as campaigning gains momentum, with both sides trading accusations amid the election heat.
