A notorious criminal was captured after sustaining injuries in a police encounter conducted by Burla Police near Fishery Chhak in Odisha’s Sambalpur district. The incident occurred during a vehicle-checking operation when the suspect attempted to flee in a Swift car, firing at the police during a chase. In self-defense, the police fired back, injuring the criminal in the leg.
Manish Sahu, the apprehended individual, is known for his involvement in various criminal activities such as dacoity, illegal possession of arms, and the illicit trade of Corex cough syrup. After being injured, he was taken into custody for medical treatment. Additionally, three of his associates were arrested in connection with the case.
The police operation resulted in the confiscation of illegal items, including a pistol, live bullet, empty cartridges, a Swift car used in the escape attempt, mobile phones, and cartons of Corex cough syrup. Authorities are conducting further investigations to uncover the extent of the criminal network and the roles of those arrested in illicit arms and drug-related activities in the region.
In response to the incident, authorities have heightened surveillance in the area and implemented additional measures to combat criminal activities in Sambalpur district.
