The NSCN-IM has called on the Centre to promptly address Kuki militant groups’ violent activities in Manipur. This plea follows the discovery of six bodies in a forested area near Kharam Vaiphei village, allegedly abducted by armed groups on May 13. The Naga organization strongly condemns the killings by what it terms as Kuki terrorist gangs, emphasizing the need for decisive action.
The NSCN-IM labeled the killings as heinous crimes against humanity, stressing the importance of respecting the deceased even in times of conflict. It criticized security forces for alleged inaction against Kuki militant groups while targeting Naga individuals, questioning the government’s commitment to justice and equality. The recovery of the six bodies occurred after the release of 14 Kuki hostages, highlighting ongoing tensions between the Naga and Kuki communities.
The recent incidents have sparked protests and demands for the safe release of abducted individuals from both communities. Various organizations representing the Naga and Kuki groups have been advocating for the rescue of remaining hostages, underscoring the need for peace and security in the region. The NSCN-IM’s appeal underscores the escalating tensions and the urgency for swift governmental intervention.
