In response to the alleged attack on ABVP students at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), NSUI National President Vinod Jakhar expressed concern over the campus environment influenced by the RSS-affiliated student wing. Jakhar condemned the violence that erupted during a protest rally at JNU, where clashes between students of different ideological groups occurred.
The JNUSU organized an “Equality March” demanding the resignation of Vice-Chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit over alleged “casteist” remarks and other issues. The protest also called for the revocation of rustication orders against four student office-bearers.
Jakhar criticized the ABVP for allegedly operating with impunity on campuses nationwide, creating a dictatorial atmosphere. He emphasized the need to prevent violence on campus and assured that NSUI would strive for a peaceful environment.
During a meeting with Rahul Gandhi, Jakhar received encouragement to work diligently and fulfill his responsibilities. Gandhi appointed Jakhar as the NSUI President, recognizing his previous leadership roles in student unions.
