The National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to cancel the NEET-UG 2026 examinations conducted on May 3 after uncovering incriminating evidence of widespread irregularities and a suspected paper leak. The NTA received reports of irregularities on May 7 and, following investigations by central and enforcement agencies, opted to cancel the exams. Students will receive a refund for the examination fee and will not be charged for re-examination.
The NTA, responsible for exam administration, emphasized that it had employed advanced security measures like GPS surveillance and watermarking to safeguard question papers. Despite these efforts, the question papers were compromised, leading to the cancellation. New exam dates will be announced soon, with students receiving updated admit cards. The NTA will cover all costs for the re-examination without additional fees.
The agency assured that students need not reapply, as their existing registrations will remain valid. It expressed regret for the inconvenience caused but highlighted the necessity of maintaining trust in the examination system. The NTA is fully cooperating with investigating agencies, providing access to relevant records, and has set up helplines for student queries and support services.
