Government-owned NTPC Group has exceeded 90 GW of installed power generation capacity with the successful trial operations of Unit 2 (800 MW) at Patratu Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (PVUNL) in Jharkhand. This achievement is a significant stride towards India’s sustainable energy future. PVUNL, a joint venture between NTPC Limited and Jharkhand Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited, aims to deliver reliable and affordable power using innovative technologies and resource optimization.
NTPC Group now operates over 90 GW of installed capacity nationwide, with an additional 32 GW under construction. By 2032, NTPC targets a total installed capacity of 149 GW, including 60 GW from renewable sources. In the fiscal year 2025-26, NTPC added 5,488 MW of renewable capacity, emphasizing its commitment to sustainable growth. The company’s energy mix comprises thermal, hydro, solar, and wind power projects, ensuring a stable and eco-friendly electricity supply in India.
Apart from power generation, NTPC has diversified into various sectors such as e-mobility, battery storage, pumped hydro storage, waste-to-energy, nuclear power, and green hydrogen solutions. In the October-December quarter of the financial year 2025-26, NTPC reported an over 8% increase in consolidated net profit, reaching Rs 5,489 crore. Additionally, the company announced a second interim dividend of Rs 2.75 per share.
