Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, a US chip giant, recently met with SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won in Taipei to explore future collaboration in artificial intelligence (AI) memory. The meeting, held during their attendance at Computex, a major technology trade show in Asia, aimed to strengthen ties between the two companies. SK hynix’s market capitalization reaching US$1 trillion was highlighted during the discussions as a significant milestone.
Reflecting on their joint achievements in AI memory, both executives expressed their commitment to advancing AI infrastructure. Huang, mentioning robotics as a potential investment area in South Korea, is scheduled to visit the country later in the week. Industry sources indicate that Huang will engage in meetings with key figures from major South Korean conglomerates, including LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo and Naver’s founder and chairman Lee Hae-jin.
Additionally, Hyundai Motor Group Executive Chair Euisun Chung is considering participating in the discussions. The CEO of NC Corp., Kim Taek-jin, a South Korean gaming company, is also set to meet with Huang. Plans for a closed-door session with local robotics and AI startups in Seoul, focusing on integrating AI with real-world machines and systems, are in the pipeline. The upcoming talks are anticipated to expand beyond AI semiconductor cooperation to encompass robotics and physical AI.
During his previous visit to Seoul in October, coinciding with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit, Huang made headlines for sharing a meal of Korean fried chicken and beer with Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Chung. South Koreans are already buzzing with excitement over Huang’s upcoming visit, with online platforms tracking his movements and related news reports.
