Wishes flooded in as Odisha observed Utkal Divas on April 1, commemorating the state’s establishment as a separate province in 1936. Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati conveyed greetings, emphasizing this day as the inception of Odisha as India’s first linguistic state. He honored key figures like Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das and Maharaja Krushna Chandra Gajapati for their relentless efforts in safeguarding Odisha’s language and culture.

Highlighting Odisha’s illustrious history, Governor Kambhampati praised the state’s ancient roots, the valor displayed in the Paika Rebellion of 1817, and its vibrant cultural heritage that continues to inspire its people. He underscored the values of equality, unity, and harmony advocated by Lord Jagannath as the pillars of Odia society.

Governor Kambhampati commended Odisha’s progress in various sectors, citing developmental and welfare initiatives. He outlined a vision for a prosperous Odisha by 2036, aiming to transform it into a $500 billion economy by 2047, ensuring inclusive growth for all segments of society.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended warm wishes to Odias worldwide on Utkal Divas, hailing it as a significant milestone in the state’s journey. He reiterated the government’s commitment to preserving Odia identity and culture, striving to fulfill the aspirations of every Odia. CM Majhi urged unity towards building a prosperous Odisha by its centenary in the next decade.
