Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi highlighted that sports go beyond winning or losing, focusing on instilling discipline, teamwork, and resilience. He expressed this view during the “Chintan Shibir,” a sports event in Odisha aimed at shaping the state’s sports development roadmap. The event gathered national and international sports experts, administrators, and athletes to discuss sports growth in Odisha.
The Chief Minister mentioned Odisha’s global recognition for successfully hosting various national and international sporting events. He revealed plans to host the World Athletics and Asian Indoor Athletics Championships in Odisha in 2028. Additionally, he announced the upcoming Silver-level edition of the World Athletics Continental Tour event in the state.
Odisha is investing significantly in sports infrastructure, including a multi-purpose sports complex in Bhubaneswar worth around Rs 1,000 crore. The government is also building state-of-the-art stadiums at the block level with an investment exceeding Rs 4,000 crore to nurture young talent. The Chief Minister stressed the importance of supporting coaches, athletes, and achievers for a prosperous Odisha by 2036 and a developed India by 2047.
