Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi distributed Rs 838.48 crore to 41,68,582 farmers under the CM-KISAN scheme on Akshaya Tritiya and State Farmers’ Day. The event, held at the Central Rice Research Institute in Cuttack, saw the Chief Minister announcing various initiatives for farmers. This included launching the ‘Ama Bihana Ratha’ and ‘Krushi Ratha’ to promote agriculture.
To enhance seed availability, the Chief Minister introduced the “Ama Bihana Ratha” initiative, ensuring access to new paddy seed varieties at the gram panchayat level. Majhi emphasized the significance of agriculture in Odisha’s economy and culture, highlighting its role in the state’s prosperity. He stressed the importance of agricultural development for overall state progress and the government’s vision of a ‘Samruddha Odisha’.
Majhi disbursed Rs 838.48 crore to over 41 lakh farmers for the 2026 Kharif season through the CM-KISAN scheme. The scheme, aimed at empowering farmers economically, benefits small and marginal farmers, landless farmer families, and tribal farmer families. The Chief Minister noted Odisha’s agricultural growth rate of 5.3%, surpassing the national average, and the record foodgrain production of over 150 lakh metric tonnes this year.
