Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi recently campaigned in Rampurhat, Birbhum district, West Bengal, in support of BJP candidates, emphasizing the need for a “change” in the state. He expressed confidence that Bengal, like Anga and Kalinga, would also undergo transformation. Four BJP candidates, including Dhruba Saha, Anil Singh, Nikhil Banerjee, and Rinki Ghosh, filed their nominations at the Rampurhat Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office on the same day.
The Chief Minister’s convoy arrived in Rampurhat to back the candidates, where he spent approximately 40 minutes with them at the Sub-Divisional Magistrate’s office. Majhi, addressing the media post his visit, highlighted the public’s anti-corruption stance and envisioned a corruption-free government in Bengal, akin to the development witnessed under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership nationwide. He advocated for a “double-engine government” as Bengal’s future.
Majhi, who previously campaigned in Midnapore, expressed optimism about BJP’s prospects in Birbhum, suggesting a favorable outcome for the party in the upcoming elections. Accusing the ruling party in West Bengal of corruption, he asserted that the populace is inclined towards voting for change, seeking development and transparent governance. The Chief Minister also referenced the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise of electoral rolls in West Bengal, emphasizing the importance of ensuring only legitimate citizens are included in the voter list.
