Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has officially introduced the “Arohan” initiative, a significant program by the Department of Women and Child Development in Odisha. This initiative aims to enhance early childhood education foundation throughout the state, focusing on transitioning children from Anganwadi centers to Bal Vatika-3 after completing their pre-primary education. The program targets six-year-olds who are ready to enroll in Sishu Vatika III (Class 1).
Addressing the audience at the event, Parida stressed the critical role of the first six years in a child’s brain development. She highlighted the government’s focus on early childhood development during the Poshan Pakhya-2026 event. Parida emphasized the importance of family and community involvement, stating that parental support is crucial for shaping a bright future for children. The name “Arohan” signifies the upward journey of a child’s education, according to the Deputy CM.
The Deputy CM pointed out that while 80% of a child’s foundational development occurs in Anganwadi centers, the “Arohan” program prepares them for the remaining 20% as they enter formal schooling. By celebrating this transition, the government aims to inspire pride and enthusiasm in children, making them feel like they are embarking on a significant new phase rather than just leaving a familiar environment. Parida expressed gratitude to the Women and Child Development Department Secretary and the administrative team for pioneering this innovative concept.
Parida highlighted that “Arohan” represents a commitment to the state’s youth’s prosperity and education, going beyond a mere ceremony. She expressed optimism that with the blessings of Lord Jagannath, the program would effectively guide these children towards a bright and empowered future. As a symbol of new beginnings, Parida applied tikka to the children, sending them off to the next stage of their lives with the Arohan kit, blessings, and encouragement. The initiative’s tagline, “Ujwala Bhabisyat Pain Pade Agaku,” emphasizes a collective step forward towards a brighter future for every child.
