In a move to establish Odisha as a key adventure tourism destination in Eastern India, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida unveiled the ‘Go-Adventure’ portal at Lok Seva Bhavan in Bhubaneswar. The state government also inked agreements with the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) and the Aero Club of India (ACI) to enhance adventure tourism activities. Emphasizing safety as paramount, Deputy CM Parida highlighted the state’s commitment to expanding adventure tourism through international collaborations and a focus on spiritual and experiential travel.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg, present at the event, reiterated the government’s dedication to tourism development with the aim of achieving Utkarsh Odisha by 2036 and Viksit Bharat by 2047. Garg urged all departments to contribute to tourism growth while fulfilling their primary duties, emphasizing the significance of collective efforts. The state government aims to elevate Odisha’s tourism sector by fostering partnerships and attracting investments from young entrepreneurs, with a vision to position the state as a global tourism hotspot.
The ‘Go-Adventure’ portal launch is set to streamline registration, verification, and licensing processes for adventure tourism ventures, facilitating ease of operations. Through the MoU with the Indian Mountaineering Foundation, safety protocols and training initiatives for land-based adventure pursuits like trekking and rock climbing will be reinforced. Additionally, the collaboration with the Aero Club of India will oversee aerial adventure sports such as paragliding and paramotoring in adherence to national aviation safety standards.
To enhance the business environment, the government granted ‘Licence to Operate’ (LTO) and ‘Recognition to Set Up’ (RTS) certificates to local operators, marking a significant step in formalizing adventure tourism operations. The event also witnessed the issuance of licenses to multiple adventure tourism operators, signaling a positive outlook for the sector’s growth and economic impact.
