The Odisha government, under Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, will organize a three-day Matsya-Pranee Samavesh Odisha (MPSO-2026) conclave in Bhubaneswar starting from January 21. The aim is to enhance rural livelihoods and bring prosperity to farmers in the state. Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying, Gokulananda Mallik, highlighted that this event will serve as a significant platform for fish and livestock farmers.
The conclave will focus on making Odisha self-sufficient in milk, meat, eggs, and fish production. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate the event, themed ‘Innovative interventions in Fisheries and Livestock for Vikashit Odisha,’ at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar from January 21-23. The closing session will be graced by Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati.
Over 8,000 farmers, entrepreneurs, and WSHG members from every block in the state are expected to participate in the conclave on various days. Additionally, 348 farmers and entrepreneurs will be recognized as ‘Champions’ for their outstanding work in fish and livestock farming. Moreover, the top 20 officers from the Fisheries and ARD sector will be honored for their contributions to sectoral development.
A special ‘Ask the Minister’ program will allow farmers to pose questions to the Fisheries Minister during the conclave. This initiative aims to address farmers’ concerns and provide practical solutions. The event will feature panel discussions, exhibitions, and various programs over the three-day period.
