Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling has called on the people of the state to actively join the mass yoga campaign organized by the Union Ministry of Ayush for International Yoga Day 2026. This initiative aims to set a Guinness World Record and promote the benefits of yoga for overall well-being.
Minister Mahaling highlighted the global significance of yoga, attributing its popularity to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He emphasized that yoga, recognized by the United Nations, offers physical, mental, and spiritual advantages, helping prevent diseases and promoting a healthy lifestyle. The theme for this year’s International Yoga Day is “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”
Yoga’s role in maintaining health, mental equilibrium, and enhancing life quality, especially as individuals age, was underscored by the Minister. An online yoga session is scheduled by the Ministry of Ayush on June 14, 2026, aiming to establish a Guinness World Record through mass participation. The event aligns with the vision of a “Healthy India” and aims to make yoga a widespread movement.
The Minister encouraged various groups including doctors, healthcare workers, students, and citizens to engage in this national initiative. Participation can be done individually through mobile phones or personal devices. Interested individuals were urged to register by giving a missed call to the toll-free number 1800-315-7008. The Minister emphasized the importance of collective effort in making yoga a popular movement and contributing to the success of the Guinness World Record.
