Odisha’s Leader of Opposition and Biju Janata Dal Chief, Naveen Patnaik, expressed disappointment over the cancellation of NEET-UG 2026 due to a reported paper leak, calling it a betrayal of students’ trust in the examination system. Patnaik emphasized the need to uphold the integrity of exams to ensure fairness for hardworking aspirants.
Patnaik highlighted that this was not the first instance of a NEET question paper leak, noting the negative impact such incidents have on students’ confidence and future prospects. He stressed the importance of holding those responsible for the leak accountable to restore faith in the examination process.
The BJD leaders, in a press conference, criticized the BJP government for the recurring issue of exam cancellations due to paper leaks, accusing them of failing to deliver on their promises. They demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, alleging that the government’s actions have jeopardized the future of millions of students.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the cancellation of the NEET-UG 2026 exam held on May 3, citing irregularities in the examination process. The exam will be rescheduled, as per the NTA’s official statement, following investigations into the alleged malpractices.
