The Odisha Vigilance recently discovered movable and immovable assets worth crores of rupees in raids on properties associated with Bhubaneswar Sabar, an Executive Engineer. Sabar, who holds positions in the Roads and Buildings Sub-Division in Dharmagarh and Bhawanipatana, is under scrutiny for allegedly owning assets disproportionate to his income sources. The searches conducted at six locations in Kalahandi district revealed assets including multiple buildings, plots, farmhouses, a market complex, deposits, a vehicle, and cash and household items.
A team of Odisha Vigilance, comprising Deputy Superintendents of Police, Inspectors, and support staff, carried out the searches based on warrants issued by the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhawanipatna. The investigations exposed Sabar and his family’s possession of assets valued at crores, raising suspicions of potential financial misconduct. The assets seized during the operation included various properties, deposits, a vehicle, and substantial amounts of cash and household articles.
In a separate incident, the anti-corruption authorities apprehended Parsuram Naik, a Panchayat Executive Officer in Mayurbhanj district, for allegedly accepting a bribe. Naik was caught red-handed while taking a bribe of Rs 18,000 from a contractual staffer to expedite the processing of his remuneration file. The staffer, who had faced delays in receiving his dues despite official orders, reported Naik’s demand for a bribe to facilitate the payment release.
