Popular Park Street establishment Olypub has issued a formal apology for mistakenly serving beef instead of goat meat to YouTuber Sayak Chakraborty, leading to his withdrawal of the police complaint against the involved waiter. The incident took place on January 30 when Sayak, accompanied by friends, ordered a mutton steak at Olypub.
In response to the complaint, Olypub released an official statement expressing regret for the unintentional error made by one of their waiters. The restaurant emphasized its commitment to respect for all individuals, regardless of background, and thanked supporters for standing by them during this time of scrutiny.
Following the complaint, the waiter involved was arrested by Park Street Police under Section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. Subsequently, a counter-complaint was filed against Sayak, accusing him of attempting to incite communal unrest through a conspiracy.
Sayak, amidst social media criticism, announced the withdrawal of his complaint, citing Olypub’s apology and urging an end to further speculation. He acknowledged his own reaction to the incident and expressed a desire to avoid similar controversies in the future.
