Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has initiated an investigation into the reported mistreatment of Kashmiri students at CT University in Ludhiana, Punjab. The students allegedly faced eviction after requesting arrangements for ‘Sehri’ and ‘Iftar’ meals during Ramzan, sparking a dispute. Abdullah stated that he would address the issue with Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and ensure the safety of Jammu and Kashmir students in Punjab.
The Kashmiri students at CT University claimed that despite paying regular mess fees, their request for special meals led to harassment and threats of eviction. A video circulating on social media shows students outside the campus, reportedly asked to vacate their accommodation. The students have accused the university administration of misconduct and coercion, although the university has not released an official statement on the matter.
The incident has triggered online discussions on religious accommodation, with some advocating for equal treatment and freedom of faith. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited his constituency in Ganderbal, inaugurating development projects worth over Rs 84 crore. He assured the public of addressing their concerns and unveiled the new CT scan unit at the Ganderbal district hospital.
