The ‘One Stop Centre for Women’ (OSCW) at the Consulate General of India in Toronto is now fully operational, providing assistance to Indian women in distress. The centre offers accessible support to Indian women in Canada, aiming to bridge the gap between Canadian and Indian authorities. Indian Acting Consul General Kapidhwaja Pratap Singh emphasized the centre’s role in offering legal, financial, and emotional aid to women facing various challenges.
The OSCW addresses the needs of Indian women in Canada, including issues like domestic violence, dowry, and exploitation. Singh highlighted that cultural and social barriers often hinder women from seeking help from existing organizations in Canada. The centre is open not only to permanent residents but also to visitors, workers, and students of Indian origin in Canada.
Since its recent launch, the initiative has garnered significant attention, with over a dozen women seeking assistance within a few days. The centre is committed to providing financial aid to women in need. Established on December 26, 2025, the OSCW focuses on assisting Indian women dealing with distress, offering services such as counseling, psycho-social support, legal guidance, and access to community resources in Canada.
