OpenAI, the parent company of ChatGPT, is set to expand its workforce to approximately 8,000 employees by the end of this year. Currently employing around 4,500 individuals, the AI firm is focusing on bolstering its presence in the enterprise market and competing with Anthropic.

The hiring surge at OpenAI spans various departments including product development, engineering, research, and sales. The company is also looking to fill specialized roles to assist businesses in effectively utilizing its AI tools. OpenAI has secured additional office space in San Francisco, planning to hire nearly twelve employees daily throughout the year.

In response to heightened competition in the artificial intelligence sector, particularly in the enterprise segment, OpenAI is reevaluating its strategies to reinforce its core offerings. CEO Sam Altman is emphasizing a renewed focus on key products like ChatGPT and enhancing its coding model Codex.

OpenAI is working on integrating Codex with ChatGPT to create a unified platform catering to both enterprise users and consumers. This integration aims to improve usability and drive wider adoption of the AI tools. Additionally, the company is exploring partnerships with private equity firms to expand its AI solutions into business applications.
