Operational preparedness and infrastructure development were key topics at the recent District/Station Commanders’ and Works Conference held at the Coast Guard Region (North East) headquarters in Kolkata. The conference, led by Inspector General and Commander Iqbal Singh Chauhan, brought together various officials to review activities such as maritime security, surveillance, pollution response, and personnel welfare.
The Coast Guard Region (North East) oversees operations along the West Bengal and Odisha coast, with stations in Haldia, Fraserganj, and Paradip. The region also manages air enclaves in Kolkata and Bhubaneswar for surveillance and search and rescue missions, in addition to monitoring fishing harbors and maritime boundaries.
During the conference, ongoing infrastructure projects, budget utilization, and energy efficiency measures were discussed. Emphasis was placed on maintaining operational readiness and professionalism to address maritime security challenges effectively, with a focus on coordination, innovation, and developmental initiatives.
The event served as a platform for sharing best practices, learning from past operations, and outlining future strategies. It concluded with a reaffirmation of the Indian Coast Guard’s commitment to safeguarding national maritime interests and ensuring maritime safety through operational excellence and collaboration.
