The Biju Janata Dal announced the “Nari Adhikar Abhiyan” to protest the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s alleged anti-women policies. Starting from May 10 to May 25, the campaign will run across all constituencies in the state.
During a press conference at the party headquarters, Biju Janata Dal leaders criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party for not implementing the Women’s Reservation Bill despite its passage in 2023. They accused the ruling party of resorting to theatrics instead of taking concrete steps.
Senior Biju Janata Dal leader Pramila Mallik highlighted the Bharatiya Janata Party’s tactics of linking the Women’s Reservation Bill with the Delimitation Bill. Mallik emphasized that the delay in implementing the bill has now been exposed to the public, with the ruling party allegedly trying to create uncertainty around it.
Mallik further alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party is misleading the public by staging rallies to portray itself as pro-women while branding opposition parties as anti-women. The Biju Janata Dal plans to organize the Nari Adhikar Abhiyan from May 10 to May 25 to shed light on the ruling party’s stance on women’s rights.
