Amid growing tensions in Parliament, Congress MP K.C. Venugopal refrained from commenting on reports of a potential no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Venugopal highlighted the Opposition’s grievances, citing restrictions on their participation and alleged silencing of Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi.
Venugopal expressed concerns over the lack of opportunities for Opposition leaders to speak in the House, emphasizing the unprecedented nature of the situation. He mentioned that not only Rahul Gandhi but other leaders were also facing similar restrictions on their participation in parliamentary proceedings.
Regarding the reported move for a no-confidence motion against the Speaker, Venugopal declined to provide a direct comment, urging observers to wait for further developments. He also mentioned Rahul Gandhi’s desire to address certain points in the House, which he claimed was being obstructed by the government.
The deepening distrust between the ruling BJP and Opposition parties was evident as reports emerged of a potential no-confidence motion against Speaker Birla. The situation has led to disruptions in the House, with Opposition MPs demanding a platform for Rahul Gandhi to speak, further exacerbating the parliamentary tensions.
