A day before the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination due to a suspected paper leak, opposition leaders criticized the BJP-led Union government for persisting issues in conducting such exams. The NDA, however, assured that measures were in place for a transparent exam. Students’ Federation of India (SFI) leader P.S. Sanjeev pointed out that key issues remained unaddressed, emphasizing the need for changes in the NTA system and a judicial inquiry.
While dismissing the idea that airlifting question papers would resolve the leak problem, a Left-leaning group leader highlighted concerns with the NTA. Congress MP Imran Masood condemned the government, stating it had failed in safeguarding the youth’s future. He criticized the use of the Air Force for exam security, calling it a desperate attempt to save face. Congress leader Nana Patole accused the government of jeopardizing students’ futures and highlighted the lack of accountability following the paper leak incidents.
Expressing similar sentiments, Samajwadi Party MP Sanatan Pandey criticized the government’s reactive approach, suggesting that timely and well-organized exams could have prevented the current situation. In contrast, the NDA praised the government’s efforts for a flawless re-examination. BJP National Spokesperson Ajay Alok emphasized the proactive measures taken by the government and NTA to prevent any lapses, including suspending Telegram temporarily.
BJP MP Pradeep Kumar Singh stressed the importance of a fair and transparent exam, assuring that steps had been taken to achieve this goal. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya supported the necessity of the NEET re-examination. JD-U National Spokesperson Rajeev Ranjan Prasad echoed the support for the government’s proactive stance, highlighting mock drills to ensure error-free exams and measures to address concerns over paper leaks.
