Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, R. Ashoka, criticized the Congress government, alleging that misgovernance has turned Karnataka into a hub for drug activities. He highlighted recent drug seizures in the state, including significant hauls in various districts. Ashoka raised concerns about the impact of narcotics on the state’s youth, blaming the government for the deteriorating law and order situation.
Ashoka questioned the efficiency of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s administration, labeling it as “Tughlaq-style governance.” He accused the government of neglecting the spread of drugs, which he claimed has endangered the future of the state’s youth. The BJP leader also targeted Home Minister G. Parameshwara, criticizing the government’s inaction despite the escalating drug-related incidents.
The opposition leader further alleged that the Congress government might be indirectly supporting drug networks in Karnataka, causing widespread apprehension among the public. Ashoka highlighted the plight of farmers and the general public affected by unseasonal rains in various districts, urging immediate relief measures from the state government. He emphasized the need for comprehensive assessments of crop losses and property damage in rain-hit regions to facilitate appropriate compensation and reconstruction efforts.
