Opposition Leader R. Ashoka criticized the Congress-led government in Karnataka for neglecting borewell repairs, which he claims is aiding the water tanker mafia in Bengaluru. Ashoka highlighted the government’s alleged lack of action in addressing the issue, accusing them of benefiting the tanker mafia at the expense of public suffering.
Ashoka questioned Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s integrity and raised concerns about the financial dealings related to borewell repairs. He accused the government of turning a blind eye to the situation for the past two years and suggested possible ties between the tanker mafia and the authorities.
As summer approaches, the demand for water in Bengaluru is increasing, leading to discontent among residents towards the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB). Official figures reveal a significant number of public and private borewells in the city, further exacerbating the water scarcity issue.
The Opposition Leader also criticized the state government’s financial management, pointing out the lack of funding for various corporations and the inadequate support provided to certain sectors. Ashoka specifically called out Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for what he perceives as a failure to prioritize development initiatives for marginalized communities.
