The Opposition, especially Congress and Trinamool Congress, criticized the BJP on Sunday, accusing it of eroding morality in politics. This comes as dissent grows within the Trinamool Congress, with Trinamool MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay showing support for another rebel faction MP by visiting Union Minister Bhupender Yadav’s residence. Kirti Azad, speaking out, emphasized that the dissenting Trinamool MPs, who contested on the party’s symbol, could have chosen to resign instead of changing sides.
Azad highlighted the lack of consensus among the dissenting MPs, noting their conflicting actions in different assemblies. He criticized the BJP, stating that morality in politics has declined since the party came to power. Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy pointed out the constitutional limitations on forming a separate bloc and expressed uncertainty about the faction’s future direction. Congress leader Rajesh Thakur accused the BJP of attempting to weaken the Trinamool Congress through various tactics.
Thakur alleged that the BJP is pressuring and targeting Trinamool leaders, including Abhishek Banerjee and Mamata Banerjee, to join the party. He claimed that those accused of corruption are being coerced to switch sides and undergo what he referred to as the BJP’s ‘washing machine’ process. Earlier, 58 out of 80 Trinamool Congress MLAs reportedly defied the party’s decision, indicating internal divisions within the organization.
