Organiser Satadru Dutta stated that Lionel Messi expressed unhappiness over his arrest following the chaotic Kolkata event involving him. Dutta alleged political interference, security breaches, and a biased investigation into the incident. He mentioned that Messi himself was disturbed by the developments and police actions.
Dutta emphasized that the event had a meticulously planned “show flow” approved by authorities but was disrupted by unauthorized individuals, leading to crowd unrest. He accused the then West Bengal Sports Minister Aroop Biswas of interfering with the program, causing disruptions. Dutta claimed that Biswas, not officially part of the event plan, used his political influence inappropriately.
According to Dutta, Biswas breached protocols by interacting personally with Messi during the event, which made Messi uncomfortable. Dutta highlighted that unauthorized individuals entered restricted areas for photos, making Messi uneasy. He claimed that despite objections during the event, the situation escalated due to security failures beyond his control.
Dutta called for a fresh investigation, questioning the credibility of the previous probe. He criticized the investigation for not including key individuals like Biswas and others involved. The controversy surrounding Messi’s Kolkata appearance sparked political debates in West Bengal due to disorder, security issues, and protocol violations.
