Organiser Satadru Dutta criticized the former West Bengal Sports Minister Aroop Biswas for his role in the security arrangements during Lionel Messi’s visit to Kolkata. Dutta alleged protocol violations and political interference, blaming Biswas for disrupting the event and causing crowd unrest. He claimed that Biswas, who was not officially authorized, breached personal interaction protocols with Messi, making the football star uncomfortable.
Nearly six months after the incident, Dutta highlighted that the event had a controlled “show flow” approved by authorities, but unauthorized political intervention led to chaos. He accused Biswas of using his political influence to assert control over the event, despite not being part of the official program. Dutta emphasized that Biswas’s actions jeopardized the event and created an uncomfortable situation for Messi.
Questioning Biswas’s presence at the event, Dutta pointed out that the minister’s involvement deviated from the approved show flow. He criticized Biswas for breaching Latin protocols by inappropriately touching Messi, causing discomfort to the football icon. Despite objections raised during the live program, Dutta claimed that unauthorized individuals were allowed into restricted zones around Messi, leading to a security breakdown.
Dutta called for a fresh investigation into the incident, questioning the credibility of the previous probe. He alleged that the earlier investigation was biased and failed to hold all responsible parties accountable. The controversy surrounding Messi’s visit sparked political debates in West Bengal, overshadowing the football spectacle with allegations of security lapses and protocol violations.
