More than 1.58 lakh children in Gandhinagar district are set to receive polio drops on June 28 as part of the Pulse Polio National Immunisation Campaign. The initiative aims to safeguard children aged 0 to 5 years by administering two doses of the polio vaccine.
To ensure comprehensive coverage, the campaign will utilize 746 vaccination booths established across Gandhinagar. Additionally, 103 mobile teams will target children in remote and high-mobility areas like brick kilns and construction sites.
In a concerted effort, five transit teams will be stationed at bus stands and railway stations to vaccinate children who are on the move. A workforce of 3,167 health workers will oversee the vaccination process, ensuring seamless coordination among booths, mobile units, and transit points.
Authorities have devised a follow-up strategy for children who miss the initial vaccination drive. Dedicated teams will conduct house-to-house surveys on the second and third days of the campaign to identify and immunize any missed children, striving for complete coverage.
The district administration and health department are urging parents to bring their eligible children to the nearest booth on June 28 for the polio vaccine drops. This effort aligns with the national motto “do boond zindagi ki” (two drops for a healthy life) in the ongoing mission to uphold a polio-free nation.
