More than 1.72 crore domestic liquefied petroleum gas cylinders were delivered in the last four days, surpassing bookings of around 1.69 crore cylinders. Despite supply chain disruptions due to the Middle East conflict, cooking gas supply remains stable with no dry-outs reported at retail distributorships, as per the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
Online LPG cylinder bookings saw a significant increase to about 99% on an industry basis on Sunday. Deliveries authenticated with codes sent to consumers’ mobile numbers rose to about 95% to prevent diversion. Additionally, approximately 1.90 lakh small five-kilogram LPG cylinders, primarily used by migrant laborers, were sold during the same period.
A total of 25,204 metric tonnes of commercial LPG was sold in the last four days. A committee comprising Executive Directors of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, in coordination with state authorities and industry bodies, finalized the commercial LPG sales plan for states and J&K.
Since March 2026, around 7.37 lakh piped natural gas connections have been established, with infrastructure developed for an additional 2.76 lakh connections, totaling 10.13 lakh connections. Enforcement actions to combat hoarding and black marketing of LPG are ongoing nationwide, with over 6,950 raids conducted in the past four days.
