Since starting on July 3, more than 2.75 lakh devotees have taken part in the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 (SANJY-2026) in Kashmir. Another group of 5,335 yatris departed from Jammu to the Valley on Tuesday. Officials reported that in the past 11 days, nearly three lakh Yatris have joined the Yatra.
On Monday, 24,259 yatris visited the holy cave shrine, and a new batch of 5,335 pilgrims left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu for the Valley in two escorted convoys. Among them, 3,599 yatris are heading to Nunwan (Pahalgam) base camp, while 1,736 are going to Baltal base camp.
An accident near Chanderkote in the Ramban district of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway resulted in 18 pilgrims sustaining injuries on Monday. The incident, involving brake failure of a bus, led to minor injuries for all pilgrims, with the driver of one bus being seriously injured.
Three vehicles were damaged in the collision. The accident occurred around 7.20 a.m. when the last vehicle of the Pahalgam-bound convoy faced brake failure near the Chanderkote Langar site. The authorities swiftly initiated a rescue and relief operation, evacuating the injured pilgrims to the District Hospital Ramban.
