More than 8.30 lakh National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets and staff took part in the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026 celebrations. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) also actively engaged in the event, showcasing enthusiasm and patriotism, as per a Defence Ministry official. The participants, including cadets, Associate NCC Officers, Permanent Instructors, and staff, engaged in synchronised yoga sessions at over 5,000 locations nationwide.
These yoga sessions were held at various historic sites such as the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, Golconda Fort in Hyderabad, Bodh Gaya in Bihar, and other significant locations across India. The NCC’s involvement in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being, and overall youth development was reaffirmed through these sessions. The organization aims to instill values like fitness, self-discipline, and collective well-being among the youth.

Coordinated yoga sessions were conducted across all ICG ships and establishments nationwide, with a focus on physical fitness, mental clarity, and stress management techniques.
Thousands of Coast Guard personnel and their families engaged in these yoga sessions led by trained instructors, incorporating various yogic postures, breathing techniques, and meditation practices. The sessions emphasized the integration of yoga into daily routines to improve physical fitness, mental clarity, emotional balance, and operational resilience, especially for personnel serving in demanding environments.
