More than 87.28 lakh domestic LPG cylinders were delivered out of around 88.82 lakh bookings in the last two days. Deliveries were mostly authenticated through codes sent to consumers’ mobiles to prevent diversion at the distributor level. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas confirmed this update.
The supply of domestic LPG remains stable, with online bookings for cooking gas reaching 99%. Despite disruptions from the Middle East crisis, no shortages were reported at retail distributorships. Additionally, about 1.2 lakh small 5-Kg LPG cylinders were sold in the same period.
Public sector oil companies have conducted over 10,400 camps since April 3 to raise awareness about small LPG cylinders used by migrant workers in urban areas. Moreover, more than 15,900 metric tonnes of commercial LPG, equivalent to over 8.37 lakh 19-kg cylinders, were sold in the last two days.
A committee comprising Executive Directors of IOCL, HPCL, and BPCL, in consultation with State authorities and industry bodies, finalizes the commercial LPG sale plan in States/UTs. The gasification of about 6.31 lakh PNG connections has been completed, with infrastructure set up for an additional 2.67 lakh connections, totaling 8.98 lakh connections.
Enforcement actions to combat hoarding and black marketing of LPG are ongoing nationwide. The government reported conducting more than 2,100 raids across the country on Tuesday. Public sector oil companies have intensified surprise inspections, penalizing 366 LPG distributorships, and suspending 75 distributorships as of Tuesday.
Despite global oil price surges, retail prices for petrol and diesel have remained steady. Adequate stocks of both fuels are available at public sector oil company pumps nationwide. The Petroleum Ministry assured steps are being taken to ensure uninterrupted availability of petroleum products and LPG despite the Strait of Hormuz closure.
Citizens are urged against panic buying of petrol, diesel, and LPG and advised to rely on official sources for accurate information. LPG consumers are encouraged to use digital booking platforms and avoid in-person visits to distributors. Refineries are operating at high capacity with ample crude inventories, and increased local LPG production supports domestic consumption.
