The name of Shahzad Bhatti, a gangster based in Lahore, Pakistan, has emerged in various investigations related to terror recruitment, radicalization, and espionage activities in India. He has reportedly faced over a dozen cases filed against him by different agencies. Bhatti has been operating from Dubai for years, shuttling between Pakistan, the UAE, and other Middle Eastern countries, as per investigators.
Indian security agencies are focusing on securing Bhatti’s extradition for his involvement in cases associated with terror recruitment and radicalization. Despite challenges due to his Pakistani nationality and no travel history to India, efforts are underway to bring him to trial. Officials are optimistic about the extradition process, citing past successful extraditions in similar cases.
Bhatti, described as a significant operative, is suspected to have backing from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Concerns loom that he might flee to Pakistan if extradition moves progress. His recruitment network, primarily active on social media, targets youth with promises of money and power, aiming to carry out attacks across India. Recent arrests in various states have been linked to Bhatti’s network, indicating a wide-reaching operation.
