The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders have announced their intention to go to court to request permission for a protest on August 5. This decision comes as the Lahore Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza has not responded to their application for a peaceful gathering. PTI Lahore President Mian Akram Usman stated that they will pursue their August 5 plan in response to the lack of a reply from the authorities.

PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja highlighted that party founder Imran Khan is currently in solitary confinement and has been denied access to legal counsel despite facing numerous cases. Raja expressed skepticism about expecting justice from the courts following the 26th Constitutional Amendment. He emphasized that the public movement scheduled for August 5 is a directive from Imran Khan and his sisters, urging the people of Pakistan to participate.

The PTI Parliamentary Committee recently decided to initiate a nationwide movement starting on August 5 to demand the release of Imran Khan and address other grievances. This decision was made during a meeting led by PTI’s Interim Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The movement will involve public gatherings, demonstrations, and a long march, as confirmed by PTI General Secretary Salman Akram Raja. Additionally, the committee plans to consult with Mehmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas for finalizing the protest strategies and other activities.
